Leadership Team

He moved into the HVAC business and after attending courses and successfully passing all the State Exams he started his own business. 5 years later, his business is positioned to double in size. Matt visits all of the customers homes and our key salesperson.
George Rancourt Jr – Director of Sales & Marketing. George brings years of experience from the sales & marketing arena. He has recently joined to focus on new business and marketing efforts. George holds a BS in Marketing and MS in Business Admin from Boston University.
Gio Pagan – Director of Operations. Gio is a new addition to our team and brings years of experience. As a former business owner, he is leading our efforts for streamlining operations, reducing cost, and supporting our growth. Gio has a strong background with business operations, marketing, and customer service.
Customer’s
Our customer base has been 90% residential and 10% commercial. The residential market is in constant demand. Systems always need to be replaced. Most of the rebates offered are geared towards homeowners and this helps our customer base. We also work with a few property management firms, and they provide work as well.
We would like to increase our commercial business.
Businesses in Middlesex County – there are currently 153,958 businesses. Of these businesses they employ almost 80,000 employees.
There are 54 town/cities in Middlesex County. Our longer-term goal includes servicing the depth and breadth of Middlesex County. We have already provided services to 21 of these towns/cities. The number of homes or potential customers/homes is approximately 700,000.
- Age – Our customers are homeowners and range in age, but most are 30+
- Income – The average median income of our customers is $102,000.
- Home Value – Median value of owner-occupied home value is $500,700
Why They Are Our Customers
Our customers are mostly middle class and upper-middle class. Most of the homes we currently work with are single family homes. About 10% of our work is multi-unit and commercial type business. We have 3 family members working and support the business goals. This provides a family run type business atmosphere. Building trust by taking responsibility for our workmanship (and backing it up) and professionalism makes them likely to choose us over the competition.
Expansion
Maintenance Service
We identified the service industry as a new approach to new business. There are 2 revenue streams from a dedicated service division. Both will serve towards RPM business goals.
- Maintenance & Service work
Yearly maintenance work
Offer yearly maintenance agreements
- Leads for new systems
Offer special offers for replacement systems
Showroom Model
Our goal is to provide a small showroom with different types of equipment on display. A few years ago, the standard furnace would consume valuable floor space and require a larger space to house it all. Today, systems hang on the wall and eliminate hot-water tanks. The new systems provide a much cleaner and more cost-effective system.
- None of our competitors offer a showroom
- Allow people to make a more informed decision
- Provide a brick & mortar location
- Offer free workshops on buying new equipment
This will be a competitor differentiator and allow us to become more actively involved with our community.
Commercial Related Business
We would like to expand into the commercial space. To expand into this area will require a small ramp up time to secure the business. We need to have at least one experienced person leading this effort.
- Secure larger customers
- Build rapport with builders
- Grow business in a different audience
Our goal is to increase our commercial business to 20% -25%
Competition
The HVAC market has a range of providers. We have 4 competitors in our town and 3 from the surrounding area we consider key competitors. Each business offers about the same services. We have been able to keep our cost low and compete with any size organization.
4 Competitors in Dracut
- Lucky Oil – Established in 1976 Lucky Oil has offered both HVAC services and home delivery heating oil. They are a reputable competitor and the company we used prior to opening RPM. We can usually win on price when we compete with them.
- Nu Era HVAC – Nu Era recently rebranded themselves. Previously their trade name was SDP Plumbing Heating Cooling. This new name and approach to the market looks like a franchise style with superhero images.
- J&J Heating & A/C – J&J is one of our largest competitors. They have been in business since 1980. They are large size and compete in both residential and commercial markets. They also have a problem with employee retention and employee problems.
- CoolAir – This is a one-person shop. We do not compete with them to often.
Other Competitors Near Us
- Milltown HVAC – Milltown Plumbing is a family owned and operated business established in 1979. They provide several other areas outside of HVAC - Drain cleaning, Plumbing, and Electrical.
- Heritage HVAC – Heritage is one of the higher priced service providers. They provide about the same services as Milltown. They are reputable business.
- Caron HVAC – Caron is also another competitor we encounter often. They were formerly on the same street as we were and moved to an adjoining city. We often beat them on price and our reputation.
Compared to our competitors and based on customer feedback, we offer an excellent level of customer support. We are extremely professional, clean, and perform background checks on all our employees. Year over year we have been capturing the market share and growing our client base.
